The History of Medicine

Practice of medicine has been around for centuries. If used by witchcraft or magic or just for the sole purpose of healing, medicine has become a mainstay of human survival. Medicine is simply defined as the art and science of healing. Practice of medicine in the treatment and prevention of diseases and human diseases. Medicine is to treat and prevent diseases and disorders through medication, surgery and various forms of therapy.

Medical are practice that existed for hundreds of years. The first drugs are from plant, animal parts and minerals. The medicine is practiced from the beginning by shamans, priests and people who are known as a healer. The practice of using plants as medicine is known as a medicinal herb. Herbal healing is still practiced today. The Greeks, Egyptians and Chinese are some of the earliest civilizations to experience in the medical field.

Medical practice has become very sophisticated over the last hundred years. X-rays, an MRI, CT scans and more tests, procedures were created. This test allows the doctors and nurses to look into the patient’s body as their bodies. Doctors can diagnose diseases such as bronchitis or illnesses such as cancer. They can find where a broken bone or cartilage in which the parting, and then adjust their treatment.

Advances in medicine over the years also helped save countless lives. During the U. S. Civil War, many soldiers will have a leg amputated or two because of his injury field. If he survives from the operation in opening the hospital, the damage will be infected with gout or other infections. Most of the soldiers who had surgery died of infection a few days or months later. The drug was not sophisticated enough to know how to successfully perform the operation without infection.

Medical practice has helped treatment for cancer, diabetes and heart disease to develop. Medicine is still working on a cure for diabetes and cancer, but more research will be closed within the next 10 years or more. Doctors can now use the exact location of a disease or illness and a cure for the effects of illness or disability to stop looking.

One of the greatest advances in medicine was the development of penicillin. It was developed in 1928 by Sir Alexander Fleming of Scotland. Penicillin is used for sore throats, tonsillitis and some skin infections heal. It is also used for gonorrhea, syphilis, and treats cellulite.

Millions of people were saved by medical advances and developments will increasingly be made in the medical sector. These advances may be minutes or possibly larger than life as a cure for cancer. As doctors and scientists did not set the time and effort to develop new types of drugs, then drugs such as penicillin can not be found. Drugs used for heart problems, headaches, stomach disorders and sleep control to name a few.
